Rarely have strategic management issues been more relevant in the executive suite of companies than they are today. As technologies advance at an unpreceded speed and unforeseen events, such as the COVID pandemic, create increasingly volatile market environments, the need for strategic decision making increases. Strategic management provides a stable fundament for sustained competitive advantage. Companies with a clearly defined and effectively executed strategy are not only more successful on the long term, but also perform better and recover faster in crisis situations. But how can companies create a successful strategy? This central question is the focus of the module "Strategic Management".
By means of short exercises and discussions, the module focuses in particular on the so-called strategy process of companies, which includes the following key phases:
- Environmental and business analysis,
- Strategy formulation at company and business unit level,
- Strategy evaluation and selection, and
- Strategy implementation and control.
